Frequently asked questions
Is the Will I create here legally valid?
This tool generates a draft based on your answers. Whether it is legally valid depends on proper execution — your signature, and attestation by two eligible witnesses — and on your personal circumstances. We recommend having the draft reviewed before you rely on it.
Does registering a Will make it valid?
Registration is optional in most of India and is not, by itself, what makes a Will valid. Proper signing and witnessing matter more. This tool does not submit anything to a registration authority — that step, if you choose it, happens separately and offline.
Can my spouse or child witness my Will?
No. A beneficiary, or the spouse of a beneficiary, should not act as a witness. This tool blocks finalisation if it detects that conflict.
What if I have property under Muslim personal law, HUF property, or foreign assets?
These situations involve rules this general tool does not fully model. You can still use it to organise your thinking, but we strongly recommend a lawyer's review before you sign anything.
Where is my data stored?
By default, only in your browser's memory for the current session. If you turn on optional local draft storage, it is saved in your browser's local storage/IndexedDB, on your device only, until you delete it or clear your browser data.
Can I save my progress and come back later?
Yes, in two ways: turn on local draft storage in your privacy settings, or export a JSON backup file and import it again later — even on a different device.
Is this free?
Yes. There is no payment gateway, no premium tier, and no mandatory account.
